This is a favorite from my home state of Maine and I hope you will try and like it
RED FLANNEL HASH
This is a real mans dish because it's pretty much a visual recipe and very filling. You will need (per. serving) 2 large potatoes 1/2 can sliced beets 1 small red onion 2 cloves garlic 1/4 pound venison or beef Italian seasoning to taste
The important part of making this is to take time to cut things into cubes as shown.
Heat frying pan (with some oil) and start potatoes first. Continue cutting up stuff as they cook and turn them when you add the onions. I use medium high heat while cooking this.
Onions and potatoes are in. Next comes the meat
Meat is now added and the garlic is also in now. I generally just mince the garlic cloves.
Now the Italian seasoning is added and I don't go light on this. by the time everything is cooked, you will see the seasoning in the dish.
Finally (trust me... this makes the dish) add the beets when the potatoes are almost done.
